The Remains of The Day

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

So here we are, one divisive campaign later, 300 million Canadian dollars down the tube, and what have we got.

Stephen gets his slightly bigger minority.

Dion lost a few more seats, but not enough that the Liberals are gone.

Duceppe didn’t lose all the seats everyone thought he would and he comes out looking pretty good, again.

Jack!!!! got more seats, but not so many that he’s a king maker.

And, LO!, May’s idiotic, childish, moronic gamble of running against a popular minister in the Harper government didn’t work.

So, basically, not much changed.

But Stephen feels better now.

I personally would have happily allocated my tax dollars for the next 10 years to pay for therapy if we could have avoided this election.

Go Thomas! (updated)

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Right now Thomas Mulcair is leading in Outremont.

I love Thomas. Seriously. I have have a gigantic political geek man crush on him.

He is one of the last fully principled, honest politicians going.

Charest screwed with him, Thomas said “do that and I’ll quit” Charest did it anyway. He quit. Much amazement on all sides. Except from Thomas. He was like “wtf did you think I was going to do?”

That he is winning in Outremont is just astounding. It used to be that you could run a pedo murderer in Outremont as long as it was a Liberal pedo murderer. And they’d win. Easily. So go Thomas! Kick their asses.

UPDATE
He won!  Holy crap. He won. The first NDP MP to ever win a seat in Quebec in a General Election.
